Too much of a rush at the packing shed.

Whoso pulleth out this forklift prong from this support beam shall be named Manager of Home Depot. They should probably run too ‘cause it’s load bearing.

At least it was a post, not a person.

I’m not sure how exactly you’d manage that but there it is.

That’ll cost ya.

Build a display around it and keep it as an example of what not to do.

That's actually kind of impressive.

That reminds of an incident at the airport where the driver of a baggage tug dozed off (narcolepsy that he didn’t report, and that his cousin, a duty manager, knew about). The pole protecting the approach lighting was sticking up through the hood, and was positioned between the engine and radiator. That took some serious (lack of) skill to accomplish...

I’m not sure I could do that if I tried. That takes some speed and aim, if somebody was trying to do it. On accident, it probably felt pretty easy.

Aw, shit, indeed.
Reminds me of the time I gored a train car at Audi, except the forklift came out of it fine.

My dad ran safety at a grinding wheel factory. You’d actually get a kick of out meeting him someday - he’s a ano ther Republican in a blue state. He has some horror stories about forklifts and people ignoring 3+ layers of warnings and safety controls.

As a former forklift operator, I can say that is impressive. While I was working at the plant, there were several accidents involving other drivers.
One driver parked his forklift in the driving lane and stepped away to take a leak. Another came around the corner at full speed with his forks about two feet of the ground (?!?) and ran them through the radiator and into the engine block of the parked forklift. Neither operator was fired.
A new driver decided to hotdog it while backing out of a trailer. He missed the brake and backed the forklift into the the boss’ office. He didn’t get fired.
The same new driver wasn’t paying attention and hooked a section of rack in the warehouse. He pulled down six tons of material onto the forklift. That finally got him fired.

I’ve seen one through an I-beam that cut an electrical conduit on the other side, a d another roll the tip up into a curl. That pole ain’t nothin.

Fork lifts are heavy. Really heavy. Add a little bit of speed and that’s a lot of momentum to stop. Now you concentrate all that force to a point of the fork and it’s not unthinkable that it could puncture through steel.
